Heat across the continent is now hitting forty in a handful of cities. An alert was first issued in the Dutch when temps rose above seven-and-thirty, and officials have kept it in place through Saturday. In Amsterdam people are hanging curtains outside to keep the harsh sun out. The scorching weather is pushing homes built for colder months.
The WHO say more than 1300 extra deaths have been linked to the heat across areas. Overnight temperatures stay high, experts say. They urge folks to drink lots of water, stay out of the sun at hottest times and find shade.
