OpenAI today released the GPT-5.6 on July 9, 2026.
The model is billed as an most token-efficient model for coding, and software creation, with a 54% improvement over prior versions.
OpenAI said the launch was pushed back to satisfy enhanced U.S. cybersecurity measures.
GPT-5.6 is expected to lower compute costs for developers and quickly produce code generation.
OpenAI also integrated Codex into its desktop application, now titled ChatGPT Work, and packaged the new model inside.
Sea announced a partnership to host a regional coding hackathon in Singapore in August.
The event will focus on students, emerging startups and developers looking to evaluate the new tools.
