A seven-year-old boy was abandoned on Mount Fuji after his father and brother kept climbing.
The child stayed alone on a slope while the rest of the family pushed to the end.
Emergency search teams began operations early on a Saturday after the group did not come back.
Rescuers spotted the boy a short distance from the top, and he was transported to a hospital.
