Kevin McCloud and his long-running renovation series Grand Designs are drawing attention this week following a clutch of fresh reports. An Edinburgh couple is currently staying in a caravan while their ambitious Grand Designs build progresses, and one Grand Designs subject hit trouble after a driving test centre was demolished to prepare the site for a family home.

McCloud also spoke to The Times about his personal life off the camera, revealing he once owned a Land Rover that used chip fat. The show continues to draw attention in Australia and the UK for the ambition behind its builds and the real-life drama that follows them.
