On 17 October that year, a significant tornado event occurred in London, resulting in severe destruction across the city. Reports indicate that the tornado caused significant damage to buildings, including the Church of Church of St Mary-le-Bow. The Church was completely leveled, with four 26-foot rafters driven deep into the ground. In addition, approximately 600 wooden houses were demolished, and only two fatalities were recorded.
