Origin Energy will compensate thousands of customers throughout Australia up to 60 dollars each per household after an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission investigation into plan disclosures found its "Ongoing Saver" electricity plan gave incorrect savings estimates.
The regulator stated customers were given false information about potential savings compared to standard rates as per the inquiry.
The total refund amount is 270,000 dollars, which equates to a significant payout for the company.
Affected customers will be given payments automatically without needing to submit claims soon.
