Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students marched through cities across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an ongoing student movement. Classes were disrupted across the country as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron convened an urgent session with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the widespread disruption. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were fighting for improved conditions, with many voicing deep discontent at current conditions.
