Penarth attended a £20 million sheltered homes programme to deliver an extra-care complex for older people, featuring 70 affordable apartments and on-site care. Work was due to start in summer 2024 and planned to run for about two years. Vale of Glamorgan Council and Wales & West Housing are delivering the scheme, with land leased to WWH and funding from the Housing with Care Fund and Welsh Government's Social Housing Grant.
