Russia states that its two-seat Su-57 jet is set to feature combat artificial intelligence. Russia designated this new twin-seat variant the Su-57D. Military leaders developed the plane to compete with Western fifth-generation fighters. However, the Russian fleet of Su-57 jets remains small.

In contrast, a small European country currently operates twice as many fifth-generation fighters as Russia. The gap in aircraft numbers remains despite Russian intentions to incorporate combat AI systems into the Su-57D. Simple Flying and MiGFlug detailed the limited inventory together with the planned artificial intelligence features.
