Honeybee Day observed on May twentieth, annually to celebrate bees' role as pollinators and their threats, with the theme for 2026: Bee Together for People and the Planet. The UN designated began in 2017, and FAO-led celebrations since 2018. FAO and partners coordinate global events, including in-person events at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Communities also run national programs to promote pollinator-friendly practices to protect pollinators. Commemorating Anton Janša, modern beekeeping pioneer born on May 20.
