Tadej Pogačar took the victory in Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider struck hard on Alpe d'Huez and rode clear of the rest. Only Richard Carapaz drew near. Pogačar's group carried teammates who felt ill earlier in the stage but the leader held his form. His lead widened on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz grabbed Stage 18 just close behind.
