A heavy winter storm brought the first snow of the season to Montana this October. Safety alerts and notices remained in effect while the system impacted the region. The storm caused several accidents and held up commuters. Skiers found early-season powder after the storm and shared clips of the conditions online. A local pet showed strangely to the white flakes. Sunshine returned to the area as temperatures gradually warmed. The event marks the start of the winter weather for the state.
